Finnish pro Sami Välimäki and France's Romain Langasque both had a dreaded case of the shanks on the same hole at the Joburg Open on the DP World Tour.

WATCH: Two pros both hit HOSEL ROCKETS on same hole at Joburg Open

There's something about the Joburg Open that is leading players to have a case of the shanks on the DP World Tour this week.

Perhaps there is something in the water. First, we saw Sunshine Tour pro Keenan Davidse hit this hosel rocket at Houghton GC in Johannesburg on Friday.

It led to a costly triple bogey.

However, anything Davidse can do it seems that Finnish pro Sami Välimäki and France's Romain Langasque can do better.

This pair both had a case of the shanks on Saturday. And both players had them at the par-4 18th hole.

First up we have Langasque, who is the World No. 265. He's in a world of trouble here and all he is looking to do is punch his golf ball out below the overhanging, thick tree branches.

Reader, it got a whole lot worse. I mean, the shot was hard enough but then he also had a giant fairway bunker to contend with.

"Good grief," grumbled Sky Sports' commentator Tony Johnstone after witnessing the shank. Nightmare.

As for Välimäki, he had similar problems. Unfortunately for the 24-year-old, his golf club just caught the top of the tree branches.

The rest is history. Sky's commentator summed it up:

"He's hit the the worst shank you have ever seen in your whole life".

Välimäki managed to escape the whole with just a double bogey six and was only one stroke behind the lead going into the final round.

England's Dan Bradbury will have the chance to secure his maiden win. He's leading the way on 17-under.

Langasque managed to card a bogey after the shank, but he is six strokes behind Bradbury.

You might remember that last year this tournament was reduced to 54 holes because of COVID-19 restrictions. Poor weather later reduced that further to 36 holes.

Thriston Lawrence emerged victorious. This week he was named the DP World's Rookie of The Year.

The winner of the Joburg Open will take home a cheque for $165,000.
