Justin Thomas got a bit of a shock earlier in the week when a PGA Tour player revealed he once fired his caddie for repeatedly trying to distract the 2017 PGA Championship winner during a prestigious amateur tournament.

Michael Kim isn't exactly a name that the majority of golf fans may be familiar with. The 28-year-old currently occupies the 941st spot in the Official World Golf Ranking and has one PGA Tour victory to his name.

That victory came at the 2008 John Deere Classic when Kim, who turned professional in 2013, claimed an eight-stroke victory over names such as Open winner Francesco Molinari and now PGA Tour regulars Joel Dahmen and Sam Ryder.

Kim took to social media earlier in the week to tell the story. He didn't reveal which tournament it was but it was at a "prestigious" amateur tournament. Kim was paired with Thomas and Bobby Wyatt.

"My caddy tried to sabotage my playing partners by making noise during their backswings… Still sorry to them to this day," he wrote on social media, of which Thomas replied: "Wtf!!!! I never knew this G" accompanied with a laughing emoji.

Kim refuses to reveal which tournament it was after a few people in the comments decided to take a few guesses. One GolfChannel reporter reckons it was the 2011 Western Am at North Shore.

Still, what a remarkable story. Golf is a game of honour and integrity and that sort of behaviour has absolutely no place in the game.

Apparently, Kim's un-named looper was constantly making noises with peanut butter cracker wrappers.

Kim said that he made the caddie throw away the wrappers and he got rid of him after the round after he noticed he was trying to put Wyatt off his game too.

When one user asked what his reaction was, Kim wrote: "Disbelief, thought it was an accident at first but happened more than once…he was making noise with the peanut butter cracker wrappers, made him throw it all out, fired him after the round, my host caddied for me for the remainder."
