Xander Schauffele Biography

Xander Schauffele is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour

Schauffele was born on 25 October 1993 to Chen Ping-Yi and Stefan Schauffele.

His mother was born in Taiwan and his father is of French and German descent. He was born and raised in San Diego, California.

Schauffele's father has been his only swing coach throughout his career but the American employed a putting coach - Derek Uyeda - in 2021.

The Schauffele family have strong ties within sport. His great-grandfathers were football players. His dad was a decathlete but his career was cut short after he was hit by a drunk-driver in a head-on collision which ended his dreams of being an Olympic athlete.

Schauffele turned professional in June 2015 and earned his Web.Com Tour card (now the Korn Ferry Tour) through qualifying.

His first full season on the Web.Com tour saw him play 23 events. He narrowly missed out on a full PGA Tour card in the regular season but gained it through the finals - finishing 15th on the money list.

Schauffele made his PGA Tour debut at the CareerBuilder Challenge in La Quinta, California.

His first victory on the circuit came at the Greenbrier Classic in 2016-17. He also won the Tour Championship at East Lake as a rookie.

Schauffele's exploits in 2016-2017 earned him the honour of being named the PGA Tour's Rookie of The Year.

As of November 2022, Schauffele has won seven times on the PGA Tour and twice on the European-based DP World Tour.

Schauffele is yet to win one of golf's four major championships. His best performances in his career thus far include finishing T-2 at the 2019 Masters and the same position at the 2018 Open Championship.

To date, his biggest achievement on the golf course came in the form of winning a gold medal at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, beating Slovakia's Rory Sabbatini by one stroke.

Schauffele has also represented the U.S. at the 2019 and 2022 Presidents Cup, as well as the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits.

He is married to Maya Schauffele. The couple have been together since 2014. They met in university.

The couple tied the knot in 2021 in Las Vegas, where they now reside.

As of November 2022, Schauffele's career earnings on the PGA Tour total $30,941,771. His reported net worth is $23m

Outside of golf he is good friends with fellow pro golfer Patrick Cantlay. Schauffele is also interested in food and wine.

He is sponsored by adidas Golf and is a Callaway staff player.
