Golf fans will do just about anything to get Rory McIlroy to sign an autgraph in 2025.

Some will even try to bribe him with sweets...

That's exactly what unfolded after McIlroy, 36, carded a consecutive round of 69 on day two at the DP World India Championship at Delhi GC.

McIlroy, who is not using a driver for the first time ever this week, recovered from a slow start to his second round with four birdies on the last six holes to move into the top 20 on 6-under par in the inaugural tournament.

He's six shots off the pace heading into the weekend though as his European Ryder Cup teammate Tommy Fleetwood fired a stunning bogey-free 64 to vault to the top of the board on 12-under par.

McIlroy's other best pal and European Ryder Cup teammate Shane Lowry is a shot behind Fleetwood on 11-under par alongside former Open champion Brian Harman.

But back to the top of the story, and McIlroy's hilarious interaction with a young golf fan wanting his autograph after the second round.

As McIlroy was going about his business signing autographs for his adoring fans, many of who were catching him for the very first time, one young boy tried to bribe his hero into quickly signing his cap.

"Rory, I'll give you toffee," the boy shouted out to the cries of laughter from other fans.

McIlroy replied: "No my parents told me not to take sweets from strangers..."

The video may have cut short before McIlroy reached the young fan, but we understand the Northern Irishman did eventually get round to signing the hat for the young boy.

Whether McIlroy ended up indeed taking the toffee remains unknown.

Fans have flocked to Delhii GC in their thousands this week with McIlroy playing golf in India for the first ever time.

Even before McIlroy headed for his practice session, he was getting mobbed by young fans.

To McIlroy's credit, he stopped and signed every single autograph for them too.

Even Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar wanted in on a piece of McIlroy action.

McIlroy admitted earlier this week that he plans to make his schedule much more international moving forwards now.

Something made easier for him now that he's managed to complete his goal of completing the career grand slam at The Masters.

McIlroy has enjoyed the season of his life in 2025 with three victories on the PGA Tour, highlighted of course by winning his fifth major title at Augusta National in April, and he also won for the first ever time at Pebble Beach before adding a second career win at The Players Championship at Sawgrass.

The Ulsterman has also won on the DP World Tour with a second career win at the Irish Open, once again at The K Club, only this time in a lot more dramatic circumstances when holing a lengthy eagle putt on the 72nd hole just to make the playoff.

McIlroy then helped Europe win the Ryder Cup away from home at Bethpage in New York.

Despite having to play a large percentage of his matches in the most hostile atmosphere of his career, McIlroy took three and half points from five sessions to help Luke Donald's European side win by two points 15-13.

It marked a sixth Ryder Cup win for McIlroy, who now lies seventh in the all-time European Ryder Cup points list with 21.5 points.

While it will be some task for McIlroy to win his first Indian title this weekend, as he enters the weekend six shots off the pace, he is still in total command of the Race to Dubai ahead of next month's Playoffs in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

McIlroy's only danger for the title is Marco Penge, but the Englishman, who won for a third time this season at the Open de Espana last weekend, is not in the field in India.

Should McIlroy go on to win the Race to Dubai as expected next month, he will have won it for the seventh time in his career and move to within one of the overall record held by eight-time winner Colin Montgomerie.
