Joaquin Niemann is in pole position to win a first Individual Championship this week.
Jon Rahm is looking to become the first player to successfully defend the season-long race.
Rahm is in second place and will likely need a victory to get the job done, but much will depend on the performance of Niemann.
DeChambeau is third in the season race but he cannot win the Individual Championship even with a victory in Indianapolis.
He won his sole title of the season and third career title on LIV Golf in Korea in May.
DeChambeau played solid in the majors with three top-10 finishes but he missed cut at the US Open.
DeChambeau ranks eighth on the all-time LIV Golf money list with $18,246,750.
He is understood to have accepted a fee in the region of $125m to join LIV Golf in 2022.
DeChambeau will likely be the sole LIV Golf member on the United States Ryder Cup team next month.
He teased fans by saying he might whip out a Happy Gilmore drive on the 1st tee.
