Bubba Watson: My LIV Golf team sucks but at least we've got a great logo
RangeGoats GC captain Bubba Watson has admitted his LIV Golf team sucks but believes their team has one of the best logos on the PIF-backed league.
Bubba Watson could endure a frosty reception from his LIV Golf teammates after he admitted the RangeGoats 'suck'.
Watson made the remark on a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee show where the two-time Masters champ opened up on a number of topics.
Chief of which was his experience with the PIF-backed league since he departed the PGA Tour with a host of big names in 2022.
Watson told McAfee the PGA Tour was less burdensome in terms of travel because he got to cherry pick what events to put on his schedule.
But LIV Golf's 14-event season means that he's got extra time to spend with his family and even watch his children play sports.
Watson and his wife Angie adopted son Caleb in 2012 and daughter Dakota two years later.
"Now that my kids are older, they come out and go to the tournaments with me, they’re allowed on the range with me," Watson said.
"I'm the owner of the team, so they're allowed to ride with me. I mean, hey, our team sucks, but we've got a great logo."
Watson's teammates are Zealand's Ben Campbell and former PGA Tour pros Peter Uihlein and Matthew Wolff.
Campbell earned his spot in the league via LIV's Promotions event last December.
Wolff was initially part of Brooks Koepka's Smash GC quartet but was traded after he fell out with the five-time major champion.
Koepka accused Wolff of being lazy and said his talent was wasted.
The RangeGoats are currently eighth in the team standings.
Kevin Na's IronHeads are at the bottom of the leaderboard having only secured one point all season.
Watson, who is 29th in the individual standings, added: "I love it. We have time off – the PGA Tour quit having time off, we started going year-round.
"Being able to spend time with my kids and watch them play sports is a dream come true. And they love watching me play golf.
"My son's getting old enough now; he can walk all 18 holes and follow me. So, it’s a blast out there.
"We're going to Spain and London; we're going to stop over in Rome and let him see Rome for a couple of days. I love it.
"Going back to the PGA Tour schedule, there's 40 events, For me, you pick your top 20 courses that you believe fit your game and so you can do that.
"But now at LIV, it's tougher because it's 14 weeks, and you have to play in all 14.
"No matter if all courses suck for you or all courses are good for you, you have to change your game and try and figure out your game and how you can play and attack each course, even though it might not be the course you want to play at.
"At the PGA Tour, out of 40, you can find some that you play well and perform at so you can keep your card."
LIV Golf's next stop of the 2025 will be in Virginia.
The breakaway tour are heading to Robert Trent Jones Golf Club over 6-8 June.
