Andy Ogletree is the latest addition to the lucrative LIV Golf League after he was confirmed as the winner of the International Series' order of merit.

Ogletree, a former U.S. amateur champion, played in the very first LIV event at Centurion Club just outside of London last June.

He finished dead last and was widely ridiculed. But he has fought hard to get his career back on track via the Asian Tour.

His spot in LIV Golf's third season was confirmed after the completion of the Hong Kong Open.

The American finished T-15 on 12-under. Ben Campbell won the tournament by posting 19-under over four rounds. Cameron Smith finished one stroke behind Campbell but was also involved in a bizarre, 15-minute rules controversy.

As for Ogletree, the impressive American golfer held a significant lead in the order of merit over his nearest challengers, David Puig of Spain and Kieran Vincent, going into the final round.

In the end Ogletree, 25, carded a final round of 69.

Ogletree told reporters: "It's awesome, I am so excited to win the order of merit. It's been a lot of hard work this year and a lot of great golf has gone into this."

"I want to thank everyone that's gotten me to this point: the Asian Tour for all that they've done, and my team back home for allowing me to play the way I've played this year. I couldn't be more excited and, I can't wait to play LIV next year."

He added:

"I'll definitely play a few events on the International Series along with all the LIV events that I'm going to play, so next year should be a great year and I can't wait to get started."

LIV have not confirmed their full schedule for 2024 yet, but it was confirmed this week the rival league will be returning to Adelaide in April.

The breakaway tour is said to targeting several PGA Tour stars in the off season.

GolfMagic has been told by a source Si Woo Kim, Tony Finau and Sungjae Im are primary targets.
