Anthony Kim has given himself a real chance of an immediate return to the LIV Golf League after rolling in a nerveless 10-foot birdie putt on the final hole to secure his place in the weekend at LIV Golf Promotions.

The American, who is attempting to work his way back into the league after being relegated at the end of the 2025 season, signed for a 1-under-par 69 in Friday’s second round to finish tied 16th on the leaderboard at 1-under for the tournament.

Thankfully for Kim, the scores now reset heading into the weekend.

The closing birdie proved crucial, ensuring Kim was safely inside the top 20 players who advance to Saturday’s third round, and keeping alive his hopes of earning one of three full-season LIV Golf cards for 2026.

The 40-year-old, a three-time PGA Tour winner and former Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup star, entered the week knowing only a top-three finish after Sunday’s final round would guarantee his return to LIV Golf.

By reaching the weekend, Kim remains firmly in the mix to make an immediate return to LIV Golf where he has played the past two seasons as a wildcard.

A total of 22 players have progressed through to the weekend at LIV Golf Promotions.

Scores reset for Saturday’s Round 3, an 18-hole stroke play event, before carrying over into Sunday’s final round.

The top three players after 72 holes will earn full-season places on the 2026 LIV Golf League, while the top 10 finishers, including ties, will receive full exemption into the 2026 Asian Tour International Series.

Kim was relegated from LIV Golf at the end of the 2025 season, but his performance so far suggests a player determined to force his way straight back onto the league.

Below is the leaderboard heading into the weekend at LIV Golf Promotions.

As we say, all the scores reset so every player you see below is still with a shot of picking up a golden ticket to LIV Golf in 2026.

Other players in the hunt include three-time DP World Tour winner Jeunghun Wang, three-time Asian Tour winner Richard T. Lee, two-time DP World Tour winner Lucas Bjerregaard and former LIV Golf players Matt Jones and Kieran Vincent.

England's Chris Wood was in the field but he missed the cut during Thursday's first round.
