Lucas Herbert cruises to second LIV Golf title at JCB Golf & Country Club

Lucas Herbert breezed to his second LIV Golf title at JCB Golf & Country Club. 

The 30-year-old Australian, who finished in a share of sixth at last week's Open at Royal Birkdale, went round the Staffordshire venue on Sunday in a bogey-free 10-under 62. 

He finished on a 72-hole total of 30-under, six clear of England's Tyrrell Hatton. 

Bryson DeChambeau entered the final round with hopes of chasing down Herbert and capturing his third LIV win of the season but a 4-under 68 meant the American had to settle for a share of third. 

Cameron Smith, Abraham Ancer, Caleb Surratt, Harold Vsrner III, Charles Howell III, Laurie Canter and Carlos Ortiz rounded out the top-10. 

It represents Herbert's second LIV Golf title overall and first since his wire-to-wire victory in Virginia two months ago. 

He also broke the record for the lowest winning total on the breakaway tour, beating DeChambeau's previous 26-under-par benchmark from his South Africa win.

Herbert said: "I don't know. I think last week gave me a lot of confidence that I can mix it with the best guys. 

"Just wanted to really carry that into this week the best I could. 

"I think I got out of my own way the first two rounds and I started thinking about it yesterday. 

"Yeah, it was just good to play like that today when I was being pushed by two of the best players in the world."

He added: "I played great this week, but also, I got a lot of good breaks which is really nice. 

"It's good to take advantage of those when they come."

LIV Golf's next event is set to take place over 6-9 August in New York before heading to Indianapolis. 

There are doubts over whether or not LIV's team championship, in Michigan, will go ahead.
