A host of LIV Golf stars have reportedly withdrawn from the Olympic Golf Tournament in France, Paris, this August, it has been confirmed by Spanish publication ElPeriodiGolf.

LIV Golf stars Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton and Louis Oosthuizen have reportedly all pulled their names from Olympic qualification, as too has former Masters champion and PGA Tour player director Adam Scott

Koepka, Hatton and Oosthuizen would have faced something of an uphill battle to make their respective nations anyway as a result of LIV Golf League events remaining shut out of receiving any Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points.

They would, however, have had chances to throw their hats into the ring with strong performances in each of the major championships this season.

Other players to have WD from Olympic consideration include LIV Golf's Thomas Pieters from Belgium and DP World Tour player Marcel Siem from Germany.

The Olympic Golf Ranking mirrors the OWGR.

Both the men's and women's golf events are run by the International Golf Federation.

The men's golf tournament will take place at Le Golf National from 1-4 August, and the women's golf tournament will take place from 7-10 August.

It is believed none of the players on the LPGA Tour have yet withdrawn their names from Olympic qualification.

The Olympic golf field is restricted to 60 players.

Under the current rules, the top 15 players in the OWGR are eligible for the Olympics, with a limit of four players per country.

Beyond the top 15, players are eligible based on the world rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each nation that does not already have two or more players among the top 15.

As it stands, Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay would find themselves on the United States team.

Rory McIlroy is believed to still be interested in competing in the Olympics this summer.

Northern Ireland's McIlroy made his Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021 when he chose to represent Ireland instead of Great Britain.

With McIlroy likely choosing Ireland again in Paris, it means Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood are likely going to make the GB side, should they still wish to participate in the tournament.

Golf made its long-awaited return to the Olympics at Rio, Brazil, in 2016.

Justin Rose won gold that week.

Schauffele then won in Tokyo in 2021.
