Phil Mickelson withdraws from LIV Golf Hong Kong amid ongoing family health matter
Phil Mickelson’s LIV Golf return delayed again as HyFlyers turn to Hong Kong specialist Wade Ormsby.

Phil Mickelson’s return to LIV Golf will have to wait a little longer.
The six-time major champion is set to miss a third consecutive LIV Golf event, with HyFlyers GC confirming their captain Mickelson will not compete in Hong Kong next week as he continues to attend to an undisclosed family health matter.
While the 55-year-old American initially ruled himself out of the season-opening events in Riyadh and Adelaide, his absence has now stretched into a third tournament — raising further questions about when fans can expect to see him back in competitive action.
Rather than rush Mickelson back, HyFlyers have once again opted for experience.
Wade Ormsby will step into the line-up for LIV Golf Hong Kong, a move that makes strategic sense given his strong history at the venue.
Ormsby, 45, is no stranger to stepping in. He featured in Adelaide and now returns at a venue where he owns two Hong Kong Open titles (2017, 2020).
On a course that rewards strategy and patience, the Australian's comfort level could provide a steadying influence for the team.
In a statement posted to social media, HyFlyers GC said: "We are excited to have Wade join the team again in Hong Kong as he steps in for Phil. As a two-time winner of The Hong Kong Open, Wade brings a great deal of familiarity to Hong Kong Golf Club."

Mickelson first announced his planned absence at the beginning of February, explaining that he and his wife Amy needed to focus on a family health matter.
“I will not be able to participate in the first two LIV events as Amy and I need to be present for a family health matter,” Mickelson wrote at the time.
“I can’t wait to compete again and look forward to rejoining my teammates as soon as possible.”
Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia will look to defend his title at LIV Golf Hong Kong from 5-8 March.
Whether Mickelson’s absence stretches beyond Hong Kong remains to be seen. For now, HyFlyers appear content to lean on depth and course experience — and to give their captain the time he needs away from the spotlight.
