Report: LIV Golf set to announce big change to International Series
LIV Golf are reportedly going to award the leading two players in the International Series a one-year contract with the breakaway tour, according to a report.
LIV Golf are reportedly going to hand the leading two players in the International Series spaces in the breakaway tour for the 2026 campaign, according to a report.
Per the South China Morning Post, LIV officials are planning on announcing the change over the next few days.
The PIF-backed league will also reportedly unveil details for the forthcoming Promotions event which is due to be staged in December.
LIV Golf Promotions is the tour's version of qualifying school, offering only one golden ticket.
Currently, only the leading player in the International Series' order of merit is awarded a one-year contract with LIV Golf.
The 10-event series is played under the banner of the Asian Tour and was first introduced in 2022. Prize money is provided by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.
Previous winners of the order of merit include the likes of Scott Vincent and former US Amateur champion Andy Ogletree.
Ogletree played in the very first LIV Golf event in Centurion in 2022 and was ridiculed for his performance after shooting rounds of 82, 77 and 75 for a total of 24-over par.
But he fought his way back to LIV via the International Series.
He was selected by Phil Mickelson's HyFlyers but was relegated this season.
New Zealand's Ben Campbell was in the prime position to take the crown last year, only to be pipped in the final event by Chile's Joaquin Niemann at the Saudi International.
As Niemann was already a full-time LIV player, it meant that Campbell filled in for a reserve across their 14-event season.
Scott Vincent currently leads the International Series. He has a comfortable lead over Miguel Tabuena. Australia's Lucas Herbert is third.

The 2024 US Open champion has become the face of LIV Golf and has seen his popularity soar since leaving the PGA Tour.
