Chevron Championship prize money: How much Mao Saigo, others won
Chevron Championship prize money: Check out how much champion Mao Saigo and the rest of the field won at the first women's major of the year.
Mao Saigo came through a five-way playoff to win the first women's major of the year at the Chevron Championship.
The Japanese golfer managed to sink a birdie putt on the 72nd hole to reach 7-under and join four others in extra holes.
Lindy Duncan, Ariya Jutanugarn, Hyo-Joo Kim and Yin Ruoning also finished on the same total at The Club at Carlton Woods in Texas.
Jutanugarn, twice a major winner, had led for most of the day and needed a par at the final hole to win but dropped a shot.
Kim, Yin and Jutanugarn all made pars on the first hole of sudden-death at the par-5 18th whilst Duncan made a bogey.
Saigo then sank a birdie putt from five feet to claim her first ever victory in the United States and maiden major championship.
"I was so laser focused and nervous and really in the zone," she said. "All I could think of was the ball in front of me. I couldn't see anything else.
"I was shaking from nervousness, but I did my best to calm down and I shot and it went in."
She added: "It was my dream to earn this major. It is my first time to win this tournament. I was able to realise my dream and I'm very happy about this."
Along with the trophy, Saigo also took home her fair share of prize money.
The 2025 edition of the Chevron Championship had a total purse of $8m, meaning Saigo took home the top prize of $1.2m.
