Charles Schwab Challenge Betting Tips: Expert Picks for the win at Colonial Country Club

Two in-form PGA Tour stars are fancied to capitalise on a weakened field at Colonial Country Club this week.

Welcome to GolfMagic’s betting tips for this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge at the iconic Colonial Country Club.

After narrowly missing out with Scottie Scheffler at last week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson, GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts heads back to Texas looking to bounce straight back with two outright selections for victory in Fort Worth.

Recent weeks may not have produced another winner, but Andy’s record in 2026 continues to impress.

Over the last three months, he has landed PGA Tour winners at 35/1, 22/1 and 12/1, while regularly finding top-five finishers to keep each-way punters well in profit.

This week, Andy believes two players stand out in a weakened field at Colonial — and both arrive in Texas with strong momentum.

OUTRIGHT PICK 1

Ludvig Åberg — Best Odds: 10/1

Ludvig Åberg looks primed to finally secure his first PGA Tour victory of the 2026 season this week, and it’s difficult to argue against him being the standout player in the field.

The powerful 26-year-old Swede arrives at Colonial Country Club playing some of the best golf of his career.

While a victory has so far eluded him this season, the consistency has been exceptional.

Åberg has recorded six top-10 finishes in his last seven PGA Tour starts, with five of those ending inside the top five.

His last performance, a tied fourth at the PGA Championship, stands out.

Dig even deeper into the numbers and the case becomes even stronger.

The world number 13 arrives in Fort Worth having posted eight consecutive top-25 finishes, underlining just how reliable every part of his game has become.

Despite making his debut at Colonial this week, course experience does not feel like a major concern.

Åberg’s elite ball-striking should translate perfectly to a layout that rewards precision from tee to green, and statistically he has been one of the strongest performers on the PGA Tour all season.

He currently ranks second in Strokes Gained: Total and third in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green.

The only slight concern comes on the greens, where he sits 59th in putting, but if the flatstick heats up even slightly then he has every chance of separating himself from the field.

Åberg is already a two-time PGA Tour winner and, given both his current form and the absence of several elite names this week, this feels like one of his best opportunities yet to add a third title.

At best odds 10/1, Andy thinks Åberg is the man they all have to beat this week.

Right, let's check out pick number two...

Justin Thomas
Justin Thomas

OUTRIGHT PICK 2

Justin Thomas — Best Odds: 25/1

Justin Thomas also catches the eye this week as a player trending strongly towards another PGA Tour victory.

The two-time major champion arrives at Colonial full of confidence after posting a solo 13th-place finish followed by a tie for fourth at the PGA Championship in his last two starts.

While his recent consistency has not quite matched Åberg’s, there are clear signs that Thomas is rediscovering the form that made him one of the most feared players in world golf.

Importantly, the 33-year-old American now appears fully recovered from the back surgery he underwent at the end of 2025, and his overall game has steadily improved over the last few months.

Colonial has produced mixed results for the world number 16 in limited appearances, with finishes of a missed cut, 40th and 10th from just three starts over the past five years. However, his recent performances suggest another PGA Tour title is not far away.

Thomas remains one of the elite closers in world golf when in contention, and in a field missing several star names, the opportunity is there for him to capitalise.

With players such as Brooks Koepka and Wyndham Clark withdrawing, alongside absences for Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young, the door feels wide open for former world number one Thomas to make a serious run at title number 17 on the PGA Tour.

Andy recommends a straight win bet at best odds 25/1, although the each-way option at a quarter of the odds for the first five places also makes plenty of appeal given his latest form.
