Wyndham Clark has withdrawn from this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge just 24 hours after storming to victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

The 32-year-old American produced a sensational closing round of 11-under 60 at TPC Craig Ranch to finish on 30-under par and secure a three-shot win over Si Woo Kim.

It marked Clark’s fourth PGA Tour title and his first victory since the weather-shortened AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February 2024, where he also signed for a final-round 60.

The win also sparked a major rise in the Official World Golf Ranking, with Clark vaulting from 75th to 44th in the world.

Clark did not provide an official reason for pulling out of the tournament at Colonial Country Club, although the timing comes immediately after one of the biggest wins of his career.

The 2023 U.S. Open champion has been replaced in this week's 132-man field by his compatriot Lanto Griffin

Victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson secured Clark’s place in next week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village after he moved to the top of the Aon Swing 5 standings.

The Memorial, hosted by record 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus, comes two weeks before the season’s third major, the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills from 18-21 June.

Clark is not the only high-profile withdrawal from the Charles Schwab Challenge this week, with Brooks Koepka also opting out of the tournament.

Unlike Clark, Koepka did not qualify for the Memorial Tournament through either the Aon Next 10 or Aon Swing 5 categories.

Five-time major champion Koepka is expected to return to action in two weeks at the RBC Canadian Open, a week before the U.S. Open.

Meanwhile, Ludvig Åberg heads the field in Fort Worth alongside notable names including Justin Thomas, Russell Henley, Hideki Matsuyama and defending champion Ben Griffin.

Texas stars Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth have both chosen to skip the event as they prepare for a busy summer stretch on the PGA Tour.
