Charlie Woods results: Find out how Tiger Woods' teenage son is getting on as he embarks on his career as a professional golfer.
Tiger Woods' teenage son Charlie picked up the first big victory of his career at the Team TaylorMade Invitational.
The 16-year-old shot rounds of 70-65-66 to reach a 15-under par total to win his first American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) title to follow in his father's footsteps.
Tiger won eight AJGA titles from 13 starts between 1991 and 1993.
Whilst Tiger is widely attributed to being the best player in AJGA history, his long-time rival Phil Mickelson was actually more prolific.
Mickelson racked up 12 AJGA wins from 25 starts before he went to college and later turned professional.
It has to be pointed out, though, that Tiger was virtually unbeatable between the ages of 15-17 as he won the U.S. Junior Amateur three times in a row (1991, 1992 and 1993).
As for Charlie, he is currently ranked 609th in the AJGA, but he will be buoyed by the fact he defeated a field that included top-ranked juniors such as Luke Colton and Miles Russell.
In 2024, Russell became the youngest player to make the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour at the age of 15.
He has also played in two PGA Tour events.
As for Charlie, he said the win meant so much because 'I haven't really performed at the highest level yet'.
He added: "And to finally do it after all the work I have put in and not playing well in big events in the past.
"Even though, I know I am so much better than that and for it all to finally come together is such a great feeling."
