Leaked: The PGA Tour's proposals for 2028 season
PGA Tour members were told of the proposals during a players-only meeting before the Truist Championship, according to a report.
PGA Tour golfers were given a snapshot of what the schedule could look like in the coming years, according to a report.
Per Sports Business Journal, the details were laid out during a players-only meeting two weeks ago before the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.
According to the report, the 2027-2028 PGA Tour schedule could feature 16 elevated regular-season events and three play-off tournaments alongside the four men's majors.

The 16 events, previously labelled "track one" by PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp, will feature 120-man fields.
Potential markets they wish to explore include Boston, Philadelphia, Denver, Nashville, San Francisco and Seattle.
The SBJ report stated that the "track two" tournaments would feature 140-player fields.
Sources told the publication that the plans are not finalised and could be subject to change. The PGA Tour have not commented.
The future of the PGA Tour has been discussed at length in recent months, with some suggesting that the signature event model (featuring limited fields of 70 players and $20m prize purses) are not working.
What we do know
The aforementioned Rolapp spoke to reporters in March about the proposals for the PGA Tour's future in March ahead of the Players Championship.
Rolapp suggested that a promotion and relegation system between the two different tiers were among the considerations of the Tiger Woods-chaired Future Competitions Committee.
"You see this work powerfully elsewhere, including in English football, where clubs move between the Premier [League] and the Championship based on their performance," said Rolapp.
"Applying elements of that approach to the PGA Tour creates real consequence, lifting the competitive standard across the entire platform.
"For our members, the message is pretty simple: play well and you earn the opportunity to compete in our biggest events and for more money."
Rolapp said the number of signature events, which currently stands at eight, could double and feature 120-man fields with a traditional 36-hole cut.
"Our best events will have larger fields - ideally, we are targeting something closer to 120-player fields with a cut.
"That consistency matters. It helps fans know who they will see and showcases who they want to see, the most competitive players."
He also suggested the Tour's end-of-season play-off events could switch to some kind of matchplay format.
Elsewhere, the PGA Tour's 2026-2027 season is beginning to take shape. As things stand, there are 13 tournaments scheduled.
It looks similar to this season, although the PGA Tour's traditional curtain-raiser in Hawaii, The Sentry, has been discontinued.
The Sony Open has also been canned.
