Collin Morikawa will use his fifth different caddie of the year at the PGA Tour's first playoff event in Memphis.

The two-time major champion's latest trial looper is Mark Urbanek, who is best known for his stint on the bag with Tony Finau

Morikawa has been searching for a long-term replacement since he made the surprising decision to sack JJ Jakovac in April.

Jakovac had been carrying Morikawa's clubs since he turned professional and the pair tasted considerable success together.

That success included winning the 2021 Open Championship at Royal St George's, the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park, as well as four other PGA Tour titles.

Morikawa has not been in the winner's circle since the 2023 ZOZO Championship, though, and after a string of near-misses earlier in the year, believed it was time for a change

He immediately hired Max Homa's former caddie Joe Greiner but that partnership only lasted five events.

Morikawa turned to the legendary Billy Foster, who was available having been sacked by Matthew Fitzpatrick in March, for the Scottish Open and The Open.

The US golfer did explain before missing cuts in both events that their partnership was only ever going to be short-lived.

Foster even said he wouldn't caddie for Morikawa if the golfer qualified for the Ryder Cup in September such is his allegiance to Team Europe.

Morikawa is in the field for this week's FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind.

It is the first of three playoff events and only the top 50 in the standings advance to next week's BMW Championship.

Morikawa will be absolutely desperate to make it to the BMW given the conclusion of the tournament signals the end to US Ryder Cup qualification.

The 28-year-old will likely cruise to the BMW Championship as he is currently 19th in the overall standings.

Only the top 30 make it to the Tour Championship at East Lake.

Scottie Scheffler leads the way, followed by Rory McIlroy, Sepp Straka, Russell Henley and Justin Thomas.

McIlroy has decided not to play this week.

His decision has certainly ruffled a few feathers, especially with current PGA Tour members.

According to reports, plans are in the works to prevent players from skipping playoff events in the future in light of McIlroy's absence.
