PGA Tour pro withdraws from Charles Schwab Challenge despite making cut

PGA Tour pro Isaiah Salinda has withdrawn ahead of the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at famed Colonial Country Club in Texas.

Salinda, 28, carded consecutive rounds of 70 on Thursday and Friday to make the cut on level par. 

But the PGA Tour Communications team confirmed the American has decided to WD ahead of Saturday's third round. 

The third round tee times have been re-jigged slightly as a result of Salinda's exit. 

Harry Higgs will be out on the course at 7:06 a.m. local time alongside Jordan Spieth and Lucas Glover.

Salinda has yet to provide an official reason for his withdrawal from the tournament. 

Salinda is ranked 162nd in the world rankings. 

He earned a full-time PGA Tour card for this season. 

Salinda's best result is a solo third at the Mexico Open. 

That marked his only top 10 of the year so far. 

At the top of the leaderboard, in-form Ben Griffin and Matt Schmid lead the way on 11-under par. 

Griffin recently notched his first PGA Tour title alongside Andrew Novak in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans team event. 

Schmid is still looking to capture his first title. 

Griffin and Schmid hold a two-shot lead over 18-hole leader John Pak on 9-under par.

Tommy Fleetwood and Rickie Fowler are notables tucked in further behind on 6-under par. 

Fleetwood is going in search of a first win on the PGA Tour. 

Tournament favourite and World No.1 Scottie Scheffler is having a week to forget on home soil though.

Scheffler, who won his third career major at the PGA Championship last week, finds himself well down the field at 1-under par. 

He was rather worryingly seen wincing in pain after hitting a tee shot during the second round.
