Scottie Scheffler provides injury update after making move in R3 of Charles Schwab Challenge
World No.1 Scottie Scheffler fires a solid 6-under 64 and then provides an injury update after the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge.
Scottie Scheffler returned to form with a solid 6-under 64 and then provided a pleasing injury update after the third round of the Charles Schwab Challenge at famed Colonial Country Club.
Scheffler, 28, narrowly made the cut in his home state event in Ohio following lacklustre rounds of 68 and 71.
But the PGA Tour superstar put his foot firmly on the accelerator in the third round.
Scheffler raced to 7-under for his round when converting an eagle from 14 feet on the par-5 11th.
The three-time major champion then exchanged bogeys on 12 and 13 with birdies on 16 and 17 before making a third bogey of the round on 18.
It all added up to an improved round of 6-under 64 to push Scheffler up to 7-under par in the tournament.
That is still some way off the pace though.
Scheffler finds himself six shots behind leaders Matti Schmid and Ben Griffin.
But the World No.1 believes he has still given himself an outside chance of winning a first Charles Schwab Challenge and a third title in a row on the PGA Tour.
"I played nice today, the golf course gets more challenging as you make the turn and play back into the wind," said Scheffler.
"I made some sloppy bogeys on the back nine which hurt but overall did some good things today and we'll see how things shake out on the leaderboard, but I don't think I'll be counting myself out going into tomorrow.
"I'll see if I can get out ahead of the leaders and post a number."
Scheffler was seen wincing in pain after hitting a tee shot down the par-4 2nd during the second round.
Golf Channel reporter Rex Hoggard asked him whether he experienced any further issues on Saturday.
But Scheffler thankfully said he was feeling absolutely fine.
"Yeah I feel good," confirmed Scheffler, who won his third career major at the PGA Championship last week.
"I just had a little pinch, it happens every now and then.
"It also happened once last week too so it's not a big deal."
