Report: Popular golf reporter lands new gig ahead of 2025/2026 PGA Tour season
According to reports, former PGA Tour pro Johnson Wagner has done his final broadcast for the Golf Channel and will join CBS Sports in 2026.
Popular on-course Golf Channel reporter Johnson Wagner has landed a new role, according to a report.
Sports Business Journal are reporting the former PGA Tour pro, 45, has done his final broadcast for the channel and will link up with CBS Sports as an on-course reporter next season.
He will fill the vacant spot left by another former pro, Colt Knost, who has been promoted to the role of analyst alongside Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman and Frank Nobilo.
That role was vacant after former Open champion Ian Baker-Finch retired after 19 years with CBS.
Wagner started with the Golf Channel in 2023 and has become increasingly popular, particularly with his attempts to recreate the shot of the day at whatever tournament he was covering.
A standout highlight saw Wagner attempt to recreate Bryson DeChambeau's iconic bunker shot on the 18th hole at Pinehust No.2 after the American captured his second U.S. Open title in June 2024.
With DeChambeau watching on, Wagner stuffed his approach to a couple of feet.
DeChambeau attempted to recreate that iconic shot this summer as a plaque was laid to commemorate the moment, but failed miserably and came up well short of the green.

According to SBJ, Wagner's contract was due to expire at the end of 2026.
Golf Channel and CBS Sports have declined to comment.
Not the only move
Johnson Wagner is not the only Golf Channel reporter that will embark on a new role.
Cara Banks has confirmed that she is joining NBC Sports after more than a decade with the channel.
Banks says she will still be involved with weekend golf coverage on NBC, but will also be takin on a new role covering Premier League football and the Olympic Games.
