Popular golf broadcaster Cara Banks has announced she is moving to NBC Sports on a full-time basis, bringing an end to her long-running role on Golf Channel studio programming.

Banks will no longer appear on Golf Channel’s PGA Tour studio coverage after more than 10 years with the network.

Instead, she will take on a lead role across NBC’s weekend golf coverage, while also contributing to Premier League broadcasts, the Stifel Snow Show and NBC’s Olympic coverage.

The London-born presenter, who was born in 1985, made the move from England to the United States in 2015 to join Golf Channel, where she quickly became a familiar face to golf fans.

She joined the network as a co-host of Morning Drive, Golf Channel’s daily news and lifestyle programme, and went on to host and contribute to numerous studio shows.

Prior to her move to the US, Banks worked for Sky Sports in the United Kingdom, hosting Golfing World on a weekly basis and conducting player interviews and feature segments.

She also contributed to TheOpenLIVE, the R&A’s live digital coverage of The Open.

Banks, who is a wife and mother of two — a son and a daughter — shared the news of her career move via Instagram.

She reflected on her journey from England to American television and expressed gratitude to colleagues who have supported her along the way.

“End of an era! Today marked my last ever show on @golfchannel … After nearly 11 years of hosting studio golf shows, I will now be moving full time to @nbcsports where you’ll find me on weekend golf coverage, Premier League, Stifel Snow Show & @nbcolympics . I will never forget the leap from England to hosting live studio shows here in the U.S. in 2015 and grateful to everyone who held my hand as I grew along the way 🙏🏻 Now we’re on to the next adventure, see you Monday on @nbcsportssoccer !”

Outside of golf broadcasting, Banks has frequently shared her passion for sport, fitness, travel, food and wine, and has also spoken about her love of skiing.

Her transition marks a significant change in NBC Sports’ on-air lineup and signals an expanded role for one of golf television’s most recognisable presenters.
