Rocket Classic Golf Betting Tips: can we continue our red-hot tipping streak on PGA Tour?!
GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts is going for four consecutive winning tips on the PGA Tour at this week's Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan.
Welcome to my latest golf betting tips feature for GolfMagic where I look to land you a fourth consecutive winning pick on the PGA Tour. This week we're headed to the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club in Michigan, and I'm eager to keep my hot streak going for a third straight week.
After successfully tipping Sam Burns (66/1) and Cameron Young (100/1) for places at the US Open two weeks ago, followed by Russell Henley (40/1) finishing runner-up at last week's Travelers Championship, I've this week selected three outright win bets that I think offer tremendous value.
With the world's three best players in Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele all absent in Detroit, I think it very much opens the door for three big-name players who have struggled to break down the door of late on the PGA Tour.
Unlike last week's limited 72-player field, no cut tournament, the PGA Tour returns to a full 156-player feld with a halfway cut.
We can once again expect low scoring at the Rocket Classic, and I believe I've got three players lined up for you that will rack up a ton of birdies and the odd eagle this week.
Scroll below to check out my three picks for the Rocket Classic, and head to the bottom of this page to see the full betting odds for all of the players in the field.
As always, please gamble responsibly.
Right, let's give you my three picks...
Rocket Classic: Golf Betting Tips
Outright Win Pick:
Best Price Available:
12/1 - Bet365
Last 3 starts on PGA Tour:
20 - 23 - 42
Past results at Rocket Classic:
2 (only played once, 2023)
Collin Morikawa is the top-ranked player teeing it up at the Rocket Classic, and I think he deserves his place at the front of the field as the 12/1 favourite.
Morikawa may have slipped to fifth in the OWGR after some indifferent recent form, but he is the class horse in the race this week.
The American has not chalked up a top-10 finish since The Players in March but I'm confident he'll turn things on in Detroit.
Morikawa has only played once in the Rocket Classic, but he performed admirably with a playoff loss to Rickie Fowler in 2023.
The two-time major champion is winless in 20 months, but I think he'll go very close to winning a seventh PGA Tour title this Sunday.
He's currently seventh in the US Ryder Cup standings, which means he's just outside the top six automatics.
Morikawa will more than likely receive one of Keegan Bradley's six captain's picks should he need one, but he won't want to leave it to chance.
He is still one of the best ball strikers in the game today and if he can just get the putter to warm up then I think he will take all the beating this week.
Best odds of 12/1 looks a decent play here.
Outright Win Pick:
Best Price Available:
18/1 - Priced Up
Last 3 starts on PGA Tour:
12- MC - 12
Past results at Rocket Classic:
2 (only played once, 2022)
Similarly to my comments about Morikawa above, it's about time Patrick Cantlay warmed up, especially with Ryder Cup on the horizon.
As it stands, Cantlay is on the outside looking in when it comes to the US Ryder Cup standings at 14th.
That is unthinkable for a player who has looked more than at home in all of the last five Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup teams.
Winless on the PGA Tour since the BMW Championship in August 2022, Cantlay looks to me a player in real need of a rocket up the a*** ahead of the biennial dust-up in New York.
It would therefore be apt if it came this week.
Cantlay is in a bit of form at the moment with two top-12 finishes in his last three starts on the PGA Tour.
I also like the fact he finished joint runner-up in his sole start at the Rocket Classic in 2022.
Cantlay is available at best odds of 18/1, and that to me looks a huge price in what is with all due respect a fairly weak field.
Outright Win Pick:
Best Price Available:
30/1 - Priced Up
Last 3 starts on PGA Tour:
4 - 4 - 52
Past results at Rocket Classic:
2 - 6 (only played twice, 2022, 2024)
I promise I don't have shares in Cameron Young, but I am tipping him for a third straight week on the PGA Tour.
Young landed us some each-way value at 100/1 at the US Open two weeks ago, before disappointing us with a T52 at the Travelers.
But I'm prepared to put last week's performance in the past and focus on recent positives that included back-to-back finishes of T4 earlier this month.
Young also loves the Rocket Classic.
He's played in this tournament twice and he finished second in 2022 and sixth in 2024.
Young has never won on the PGA Tour, but he's going to win soon. I'm certain of it.
Unlike the last two weeks, I'm not playing Young each-way. I'm going for a straight up win at very generous best odds of 30/1.
As I say, this is a fairly weak PGA Tour field and Young likely won't find a better opportunity to register a first win.
He's in good form, loves Detroit Golf Club, and he will be looking to throw his hat into the ring for a place in a first US Ryder Cup team.
