Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler will once again go head-to-head as captains of two star-studded teams at the 2026 Optum Golf Channel Games, with the full line-up now confirmed for December's competition.

Following the success of last year's inaugural event, the competition returns to Trump National Golf Club Jupiter in Florida on Wednesday 16 December, with the action taking place under the lights and broadcast live in primetime on Golf Channel and USA Network.

World No.1 Scheffler will be looking to lead his side to back-to-back victories after Team Scottie claimed the inaugural title in 2025. However, McIlroy will be determined to turn the tables this time around, with both captains joined by some of the biggest names in professional golf.

Team Rory features 2022 US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick, who has won four times around the world this season, four-time PGA Tour winner Si Woo Kim and returning competitor Haotong Li.

Li impressed during last year's competition and will be hoping to make another impact alongside McIlroy, who will also be looking to use his experience of the format to his advantage.

Meanwhile, Team Scottie boasts an impressive line-up of its own, with five-time PGA Tour winner Chris Gotterup, three-time Tour winner Michael Brennan and rising star Jackson Koivun joining the defending champions.

Gotterup arrives in particularly impressive form, having recorded three victories during the 2026 PGA Tour season.

Brennan has also enjoyed a breakthrough year, while Koivun will be looking to build on his reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in the game.

The quality of the field is reflected in the world rankings, with six of the eight competitors currently sitting inside the top 20.

Scheffler leads the way at No.1, followed by McIlroy at No.2 and Fitzpatrick at No.3.

Gotterup (sixth), Kim (14th) and Brennan (18th) complete the impressive group.

There will also be plenty of major championship pedigree on show, with three major winners competing in Scheffler, McIlroy and Fitzpatrick.

Scheffler and McIlroy have eight major titles between them, highlighted by a pair of green jackets each.

The field collectively boasts 70 PGA Tour victories, including 13 wins during the 2026 season, while several players will bring recent team golf experience to the event.

Scheffler, Gotterup and Koivun represented the United States at the 2026 Presidents Cup, with Kim featuring for the International Team, while McIlroy, Fitzpatrick and Scheffler also bring Ryder Cup experience.

Fans can expect a different style of golf to the traditional tournament format, with the Optum Golf Channel Games designed to test players through a series of fast-paced challenges against the clock.

Popular contests such as the Team Relay and 14-Club Challenge will return for 2026, alongside several new challenges that organisers are yet to reveal.

Golf Channel executive vice president and general manager Tom Knapp believes the unique format was a major reason behind the success of the inaugural event.

He said the combination of elite players, time pressure and unfamiliar challenges created an energy rarely seen in professional golf, adding that the organisers are keen to build on that momentum with this year's competition.

The event is produced by Golf Channel in association with PGA Tour Studios and was created in partnership with EverWonder Studios and producer Bryan Zuriff.

Further details, including the full broadcast team and additional competition information, are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

With Scheffler's side looking to retain the trophy and McIlroy assembling a formidable challenge, the 2026 Optum Golf Channel Games promises to provide an entertaining alternative to the usual professional golf schedule.
