FEDEX CUP FALL STANDINGS

Sami Välimäki has claimed his maiden PGA Tour title with a superb victory at the RSM Classic.

The 27-year-old made history on Sunday, becoming the first Finnish player ever to win on the PGA Tour.

Välimäki began the final round with a two-shot cushion and never surrendered his lead.

The only real wobble came at the par-4 16th, where he looked in danger of slipping back into a share of top spot—only to drain a clutch 18-foot par putt that kept him firmly in control.

From there, the Finn held his nerve with two steady closing pars to sign for a 4-under-par 66, sealing a one-shot triumph over Max McGreevy.

McGreevy had applied late pressure with a brilliant birdie at the last to post a closing 63, but Välimäki’s 23-under-par total proved just enough.

Along with the biggest win of his career and a $1.26 million payday, Välimäki also secures a two-year PGA Tour exemption.

Välimäki's final position of 51st in the FedExCup Fall Standings earns him two coveted Signature Event starts in 2026 as well.

"It feels great, it was a battle but luckily I finished on top," said Välimäki.

"The putt on 16 was huge. I heard the noise on 18 when Max made birdie, so I knew I had to make that putt and grind it out with two pars. The celebrations will be good—we’ve changed our flights to tomorrow, so I think it's going to be great. I hope a lot of people back home were watching, and I want to thank them for their support."

Välimäki becomes the 17th first-time winner of the 2025 PGA Tour season, contributing to a year in which players from 12 different countries have lifted trophies.

This triumph is the third of his professional career, adding to his 2020 Oman Open and 2023 Qatar Masters titles on the DP World Tour.

The RSM Classic also brought the PGA Tour’s season to a close, with the top 100 players in the FedExCup Fall Standings securing cards for 2026.

Despite a superb late charge—firing a stunning 62 to finish solo third at 21-under—Ricky Castillo narrowly missed out on cracking the top 100, ending the season in 102nd place. Lee Hodges also fell agonisingly short, missing the mark on the final hole. He finished in a tie for fourth alongside Nico Echavarría and Si Woo Kim.
