Ted Scott rushes to help fan struggling in the heat as golf fans praise Scottie Scheffler’s caddie

Scottie Scheffler’s caddie Ted Scott has been praised by golf fans after making a heartwarming gesture towards a spectator in distress during the final round of the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities.

The touching moment unfolded on Sunday in Blaine, Minnesota, when a fan standing near the ropes appeared to faint and collapsed while watching the action.

A police officer working course security immediately rushed over and knelt beside the spectator to provide assistance as a crowd gathered around the incident.

As Scott walked back to Scheffler’s bag at the back of the green, he noticed what was happening and spotted those nearby looking for water to help the fan.

Without hesitation, the experienced caddie reached into the bag, took out a bottle of water and handed it over to the spectator in need before walking to the next tee with his boss.

Footage of the moment, shared on social media, showed fans applauding Scott for his quick-thinking act of kindness.

“Appreciate it, Ted,” one spectator could be heard saying from behind the camera.

Another fan added: “I f****** love Ted Scott.”

The moment quickly went viral among golf fans, with many praising Scott for taking the time to help despite being in the middle of a competitive final round.

Scott has built a reputation as one of the most respected figures in the game. 

The American has been Scheffler’s caddie since late 2021, and the pair have won all 20 of Scheffler’s PGA Tour victories together, including four major titles.

Before joining Scheffler’s team, Scott enjoyed a successful partnership with Bubba Watson, helping him win the Masters in 2012 and 2014.

Scott has now been part of four Masters victories as a caddie, having also carried Scheffler’s bag during his green jacket triumphs at Augusta National in 2022 and 2024.

While Scott’s gesture grabbed attention away from the leaderboard, Scheffler was also impressive during his 3M Open debut.

The World No.1 closed with rounds of 64 and 63 to finish solo second, three shots behind 21-year-old Jackson Koivun, who claimed his first PGA Tour title in just his third professional start.

Although Scheffler has not yet met Koivun in person, he was extremely impressed with the manner in which he captured his first title.

Koivun’s victory was also a historic one, coming in only his 13th PGA Tour appearance and putting him ahead of some of the biggest names in the game — including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau and Scheffler — in terms of how quickly they recorded their first PGA Tour wins.

For Scheffler, the runner-up finish marked his fifth second-place result of the season as the four-time major champion continues his pursuit of a second title in 2026.
