If the PGA Tour wants to boost its viewing figures, then the North American circuit should perhaps put the camera on Sahith Theegala's father 24/7 when the young golfer is in action.

If you weren't aware, Theegala's father Muralidhar is a larger-than-life character.

Memorably, he caught golf fans' hearts after Theegala crumbled during the final round of the 2022 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Theegala was in tears after coming up one stroke short of victory and if you weren't moved by the exchange he had with his family in the immediate aftermath of that defeat then you simply aren't human.

It was therefore epic to see Muralidhar roar his son on to his very first PGA Tour victory a year later at the Fortinet Championship.

Muralidhar, who is known as Murli, was spotted during the final round howling with delight as his son finally broke through.

Unsurprisingly, he's back walking the fairways to support his son as he plays in the PGA Tour's pairs event at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Theegala is partnering Will Zalatoris this week.

During the opening round, Theegala took on the par-5 second at TPC Louisiana and his approach was a little bit hot.

His golf ball managed to get all the way to the green and then some.

As it trickled off the green, Murli was spotted pretending to kick the ball back on the dancefloor.

The commentary team absolutely loved it.

"That's his dad pretending to kick it on the green," one said.

"That would've been awesome except we all would have seen it."
