Will Zalatoris Biography

Will Zalatoris is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour

Zalatoris was born on 16 August 1996 in San Francisco, California. His parents are Richard and Catherine Zalatoris.

He turned professional in 2018 after attending Wake Forest University in North Carolina.

Whilst at university, he was named the player of the year in 2017. He also played in that year's edition of the Walker Cup, alongside Collin Morikawa

Zalatoris initially struggled to make his mark in the pro ranks, failing to make it past the first stage of Korn Ferry Tour Q School in 2018.

A year later, he relied on Monday qualifiers to get into Korn Ferry Tour events. He eventually secured membership for the remainder of his season after finishing third in the LECOM Heath Challenge.

It wasn't long before he had his first professional victory.

Zalatoris won the TPC Colorado Championship by one stroke, which meant he qualified for the U.S. Open at Winged Foot that was later won by Bryson DeChambeau

In his debut U.S. Open, he made a hole-in-one at the seventh hole. He also finished inside the top-10.

It allowed Zalatoris to earn elevation from the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA Tour.

His debut season on the PGA Tour was outstanding, despite not earning a win.

In September 2021, Zalatoris was named the PGA Tour's Rookie of The Year.

That honour is voted for by the membership. His season included eight top-10s. Zalatoris also made 21 cuts from 25 starts.

His season was highlighted by finishing runner up in the 2021 Masters which was won by Hideki Matsuyama

Zalatoris was made to wait for his first PGA Tour victory, which came during the 2022 FedEx Cup Playoffs.

He won the FedEx St. Jude Championship in a dramatic three-hole playoff over Austria's Sepp Straka at TPC Southwind.

It was his 56th start.

Zalatoris also lost in a playoff to Justin Thomas at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

As of November 2022, Zalatoris has earned $13,414,448 in career earnings.

Zalatoris is engaged to be married to Caitlyn Sellers. The couple met at university.

His net worth is reported to be in the region of $2.5m.

Outside of golf, Zalatoris enjoys playing baseball, basketball and football.

Zalatoris is sponsored by Titleist and FootJoy.
