Golf fans all say same thing as police officer celebrates Europe win at Ryder Cup

'Think the police officer had a parlay': Watch hilarious footage of a police officer celebrating a holed putt from Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup.

A video has gone viral on golf social media of a police officer hilariously wheeling away in celebration after a clutch European putt was holed during the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage.

The moment unfolded late in the day two foursomes match between European duo Viktor Hovland and Bob MacIntyre and Team USA pair Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.

Hovland buried a par save from the back of the 17th green to keep Europe's noses out in front.

As the Norwegian's ball hit the back of the hole, the police officer standing behind Hovland turned around and applauded the putt before shaking his fists and walking to the next hole.

We can only assume the police officer has European blood in him.

Or perhaps he just had an epic parlay that was still running...

If it was the latter, which is what plenty of golf fans reckon on social media, then he will have been in luck as Hovland and MacIntyre went on to see out their match 1up.

Hopefully for the police officer's sake he didn't back Hovland to be top points scorer, as unfortunately the European Ryder Cup star was forced to miss both the Saturday afternoon fourballs and the Sunday singles as a result of a neck injury.

"His bet slip is looking green," quipped one Ryder Cup fan.

Another commented: "I think the police officer has a parlay in play."

"Europe were +170 before the week started (insane) so he probably did the smart thing and put the house on it," tweeted a bettor.

Renowned American golf writer Bob Harig joked: "Even they hate us."

There's always someone in a thread who ruins a good story though.

"Could be just a golf fan who appreciates great golf and team spirit… Europe has it, USA does not."

As a result of Hovland having to withdraw from the Sunday singles at the Ryder Cup, he still earns half a point for Team Europe.

That's under the 'envelope rule', which results in Team USA having to remove one of their players to even things out.

Harris English was the unfortunate member of the US team to miss out.

A large number of American golf fans believe the rule needs to get in the bin.
