"I'm fully aware" Jon Rahm ready for Scottie Scheffler test at The Masters

Jon Rahm ready to lock horns with Scottie Scheffler at The Masters.

Jon Rahm admits he and the rest of his LIV Golf peers are ready to stop a red-hot Scottie Scheffler in his tracks at The Masters next month.

Rahm, 29, addressed the recent form of World No.1 Scheffler during a teleconference ahead of his title defence at the season's first major at Augusta National from 11-14 April.

Scheffler, 28, is a dominant No.1 in the world right now having successfully defended both of the last two PGA Tour tournaments at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship.

The American became the first player in the 50-year history of The Players to defend the title at TPC Sawgrass last week.

Despite watching Scheffler run riot on the PGA Tour right now, largely thanks to finding form on the greens after a putter switch to a TaylorMade Spider X mallet putter, World No.3 Rahm is determined to keep hold of his green jacket in three weeks time.

The 2024 Masters will mark the first time both PGA Tour and LIV Golf players will lock horns in the same tournament this season.

Rahm told reporters on the call:

"I'm fully aware of where Scottie is... I think that's what's making this Masters and many other majors going to be so much fun, not only for me and for players but for spectators, is for all of us to be able to play together again and showcase what we're capable of."

Rahm also said on the call he is not sure LIV Golf players will feel the warmest welcome at The Masters.

The Spaniard's preparation ahead of The Masters is vastly different this time around as a result of his shock move to LIV Golf at the end of 2023.

Rahm won three times before he went on to win The Masters in April 2023, and he had played in eight tournaments in total before driving down Magnolia Lane.

Fast forward 12 months, and Rahm will have played in just five tournaments.

He's also not managed to win on LIV Golf so far this season.

Rahm is, however, going to be competing the week before The Masters, which is not something he did last season.

The change of schedule could go one of two ways for Rahm, who added:

"Last year I didn't play the week before The Masters. This year I am [at LIV’s Miami event]. It's hard to say what's better or not. It's a little different. I'm glad that this year we're going to a challenging golf course [Trump Doral Miami] before playing a major because that I think gets you prepped very, very well for a major tournament."
