Rory McIlroy is asked to name every Masters champion since 1989, and he then drops the mic by naming himself for 2024.

Rory McIlroy believes he will finally complete the career grand slam by slipping on the famous Green Jacket at The Masters this week.

Okay, it was a rather tongue in cheek comment from McIlroy in the PGA Tour's latest social media video, but he did reveal his name as the winner for the 2024 Masters.

McIlroy, 34, starts joint-second favourite for The Masters at odds of 10/1 alongside defending champion Jon Rahm.

World No.1 and 2022 Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is a red-hot 4/1 favourite this week.

Four-time major champion McIlroy enters The Masters off a solo third at the Texas Open.

That, however, incredibly marked his first top-10 on the PGA Tour this season.

In a cool little video posted by the PGA Tour on the eve of the season's first major at Augusta National, the Northern Irishman was asked to try and name every Masters champion since his year of birth, 1989

McIlroy did pretty well on the whole, but he came unstuck on a couple of years.

Could you do any better?

While McIlroy was not asked to name the 2024 winner, he went ahead and named himself!

The World No.2 is trying to become just the sixth golfer in history to complete the grand slam.

Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods are the five players in the history of the game to win The Masters, The Open, US Open and US PGA.

Woods believes McIlroy will get the job done sooner rather than later:

"No question, he'll do it at some point.

"He's just -- Rory's too talented, too good. He's going to be playing this event for a very long time. He'll get it done. It's just a matter of when.

"But, yes, I think that Rory will be a great Masters champion one day, and it could be this week. You never know. I just think that just, again, the talent that he has, the way he plays game and the golf course fits his eye, it's just a matter of time."

Woods and Nicklaus have won each of the four majors at least three times.
