The last thing Cameron Smith wanted after having just recovered from a bout of food poisoning was to slip on his a*se in Rae's Creek, but ultimately that is what happened during his Tuesday practice round ahead of The Masters

Smith, 30, was forced to withdraw after the first round of LIV Golf Miami last week.

After spending the weekend in bed, Smith's preparation for the season's first major was somewhat scuppered.

But the 150th Open champion is feeling much brighter this week and will definitely be teeing it up at The Masters alongside PGA Tour stars Viktor Hovland and Wyndham Clark for the opening two rounds at Augusta National.

Smith admitted to having a "bit more energy" on Tuesday and that he was able to "get around the course and feel okay".

The Australian played alongside his compatriot and former Masters champion Adam Scott on Tuesday afternoon.

Fellow Aussies Min Woo Lee and former World No.1 and US PGA champion Jason Day also made up the fourball.

Cam Smith slips on Rae's Creek

The only downside for Smith was that he struggled to stay on his feet at the par-5 13th as he tried to walk over the rocks on Rae's Creek.

Smith's metal spikes gave way and the Australian took a tumble into one of the most famous waterways in golf.

"Yeah, I didn't try to jump, I just tried to get on a couple of rocks, and I had metals in my right shoe and I slipped," revealed Smith.

"A bit of comedy for the crowd there."

Smith, who has four top-10 finishes in seven appearances at The Masters, added: "The only thing I was thinking as I was going down was not to get wet, so I managed to actually do all right. I think my glove was -- I had to throw my glove out and my shoes were a bit wet, but that's about it."
