Rory McIlroy was spotted celebrating his grand slam win back home hours after he played in India for the first time as a professional.

The Northern Irishman played in the inaugural DP World India Championship last week at Delhi Golf Club.

It was the first tournament he participated in since helping Europe win a dramatic Ryder Cup on away soil in New York in September.

McIlroy did not win in India, ultimately finishing 11 shots behind champion and European teammate Tommy Fleetwood.

He has some downtime availaible before he heads to the Middle East to complete an incredible 2025.

So he used the short break in his schedule to take part in a photo shoot at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland, celebrating his grand slam triumph.

In April, McIlroy became the sixth golfer in history to win the US Open, Open, Masters and PGA Championship.

BelfastLive were the first to report the photoshoot that was stumbled upon by locals.

Masters champions need special permission from Augusta National to wear the famous green jacket in public.

The jacket should be worn over proper attire and Masters winners are expected not to consume alcohol while wearing it in public or at official Augusta National events.

McIlroy has so far worn it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the golf writers' annual dinner and he even took it to India.

An avid Manchester United fan, McIlroy would also like to wear it at Old Trafford but has admitted that it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

Rory McIlroy announces first tournament of 2026

McIlroy previously announced his intentions to play a reduced schedule over the next decade.

In several interviews, he has admitted that he struggles for motivation if he is not playing in the Ryder Cup or a major championship.

The golfer will be entering his 18th season as a touring pro next year and his schedule is beginning to take shape.

Yesterday, the DP World Tour confirmed McIlroy has committed to the Dubai Invitational in January.

It was first held in 2024 and the aforementioned Fleetwood was the winner, pipping McIlroy down the stretch.

McIlroy said: "I'm excited to be starting my year in Dubai.

"The UAE is a place where I’ve enjoyed a lot of great weeks, and I’m sure this will be no different.

"Dubai Creek Resort was a fantastic host venue two years ago, and Abdulla and his team put on an incredible event.

"I came very close to winning that week, so I’m hoping 2026 will be another really good year for me – and to start strong in the Middle East would be the perfect way to get it under way."

The decision means McIlroy will play in back-to-back weeks in Dubai. He has already committed to the Dubai Desert Classic and will attempt to win that tournament for the fifth time.

Before then, McIlroy will compete in the DP World Tour's play-offs.

In December, McIlroy will jet off Down Under to play the Australian Open in Melbourne.
