The 2025 US Open  features 14 LIV Golf players.

Bryson DeChambeau was the clear favourite among the recruits from the PIF-backed league to challenge for the title given he won the US Open 12 months ago.

But the 31-year-old American was among some huge names that missed the cut at Oakmont.

DeChambeau opened with a 3-over 73 and followed it with a 77 to miss the cut by three strokes.

Phil Mickelson appears to have played in his final US Open.

Lefty came into the third men's major of the year needing to win to complete the career grand slam.

Mickelson, who turns 55 on Monday, was looking as though he was going to play the weekend but came unstuck during the late stages of his second round.

His five-year exemption into the US Open that he got for winning the 2020 PGA Championship has now expired and Phil the thrill did not seem too enthralled with the prospect of taking part in qualifying next year.

The USGA have not ruled out giving Mickelson an exemption next year, though.

Elsewhere, former champion Dustin Johnson also missed the cut.

Johnson won the US Open the last time it was played here at Oakmont but has now missed the cut in all three majors this year.

Cameron Smith also missed the cut, as did Jinichiro Kozuma, Richard Bland, Josele Ballester and LIV's individual standings leader Joaquin Niemann.

Brooks Koepka, Tyrrell Hatton, Jon Rahm and Carlos Ortiz are well positioned heading into moving day.

Patrick Reed and Marc Leishman also made the cut but are further down the leaderboard.

How LIV Golf players have fared in the majors in 2025

There were 12 LIV Golf players that competed at Augusta National in April.

Only seven made the cut and it was former champion Patrick Reed that topped the overall leaderboard.

The aforementioned DeChambeau played in the final group alongside eventual winner Rory McIlroy but came unstuck on the back nine and ended up sharing fifth place on 7-under.

Johnson, Koepka, Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Cameron Smith missed the cut.

The 2025 PGA Championship saw 16 LIV Golf players tee it up at Quail Hollow Club.

Once again DeChambeau performed well and finished in a tie for second, though he was four shots behind champion Scottie Scheffler.

Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm finished inside the top-10.

Rahm raced out of the blocks in the final round and tied leader Scottie Scheffler just after making the turn.

But the Spaniard collapsed in remarkable fashion, dropping five shots over his three closing holes.

John Catlin, Dean Burmester, Smith, Reed, Koepka, Mickelson, Johnson and Martin Kaymer missed the cut.
