PGA Championship Betting Tips: Why Scottie Scheffler is the man to beat at Aronimink
PGA Championship Expert Picks: Best bet and each-way value at golf's second major of 2026.
Aronimink hosts the 2026 PGA Championship and, in the eyes of GolfMagic Editor and expert tipster Andy Roberts, there is one standout player this week.
It was a frustrating week for our selections at the Truist Championship as our lead tip Cameron Young looked set for a win before fading badly on Sunday, but Andy still heads into the season’s second major in strong long-term form.
Over the past 10 weeks, Andy has delivered three outright winners at 35/1, 22/1 and 12/1, while at least one selection has finished inside the top five in eight of those tournaments – keeping each-way punters in the black.
Now attention turns to Aronimink Golf Club in Pennsylvania, a classic Donald Ross design that will stage the PGA Championship for just the second time.
The par-70 layout measures 7,394 yards and has undergone significant restoration work over the years, most notably by Gil Hanse ahead of the 2018 BMW Championship.
Although course form is limited, recent PGA Championship trends are clear. Three of the last four winners entered the week ranked inside the top three on Data Golf, while all four had recorded a top-10 finish at The Masters earlier in the season.
That points firmly in the direction of one man.
PGA Championship 2026: Betting Tips
OUTRIGHT WIN PICK
Scottie Scheffler
Best odds: 5/1
Scottie Scheffler arrives at Aronimink very much as the player to beat.
The world number one skipped last week’s Truist Championship and comes into the PGA Championship fully rested after posting three consecutive runner-up finishes, including another strong showing at The Masters.
What makes Scheffler even more dangerous is the fact he still does not appear to have hit top gear.
His record in this championship is exceptional, with five top-10 finishes in six appearances, highlighted by a dominant five-shot victory at Quail Hollow last year.
Across the last 20 majors, Scheffler has recorded 16 top-10 finishes and four victories – remarkable consistency at the highest level.
Statistically, he ticks every box for Aronimink too. He ranks first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained total, fourth tee-to-green and fourth in total driving, a key metric this week given the premium on combining length and accuracy off the tee.
Even the flatstick, traditionally the weakest part of his game, has improved significantly this season with him ranking 14th for strokes-gained putting.
Scheffler has also been finishing tournaments strongly, shooting weekend rounds under 70 in 13 of his last 15 starts.
Yes, 5/1 is short in a major championship field packed with elite talent, but Scheffler’s consistency and all-round game make him the clear standout.
If he brings his best golf, everyone else will be playing for second.
Verdict: Scheffler is a confident outright selection at best odds 5/1.
EACH-WAY PLAY
J.J. Spaun
Best odds: 70/1
J. J. Spaun looks an excellent each-way option at a big price.
Several bookmakers are paying seven places at 1/5 odds, meaning punters are effectively getting around 14/1 for Spaun to finish inside the top seven.
After a quiet start to the season, the reigning US Open champion has rediscovered form in recent weeks.
Despite missing the cut at The Masters, he has posted four top-25 finishes in his last five starts, including victory at the Texas Open in early April and a tie for fifth at last week’s Truist Championship.
Spaun currently ranks 14th on Tour in strokes gained tee-to-green, underlining the strength of his all-round game heading into another major test.
Winning may be a tall order in this field, but Spaun looks more than capable of contending for a place and rewarding each-way backers at generous odds.
Verdict: Spaun offers excellent each-way value at best odds 70/1 (1/5, 1-7).
