PGA Championship prize money 2026: The winner of the second men's major of the year is set to take home a whopping cheque at Aronimink Golf Club.
Tournament organisers of the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club have announced a record prize purse.
The second men's major of the year in Pennsylvania is well underway and after 36 holes American duo Alex Smalley and Maverick McNealy are the surprise leaders.
McNealy, who narrowly missed out on a spot in Keegan Bradley's 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup team, is tied for the lead alongside the unheralded Smalley on four-under par.
The duo are being chased by a host of players including world number one Scottie Scheffler and the likes of Max Greyserman, Stephan Jaeger, Aldrich Potgieter, Min Woo Lee, Hideki Matsuyama, Chris Gotterup, Ludvig Aberg and Harris English.
Reigning Masters champion Rory McIlroy kept alive his hopes of winning his second consecutive major after battling hard to make the cut on Friday.
LIV Golf recruit Jon Rahm, two-time major winner Justin Thomas and the in-form Cameron Young are also in contention with a great chance of lifting the Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday.
As is so often the case, there is a huge amount of chatter over how much prize money is on offer.
The aforementioned Scheffler banked $3,420,000 after securing his fourth major title 12 months ago at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte.
And the winner is set to receive an even larger sum of money on Sunday.
The PGA of America confirmed on Saturday that the total purse for the 2026 edition of the major stands at $20.5m, with the winner set to take home a cheque for $3,690,000.
New PGA of America CEO Terry Clark said the governing body were taking a "balanced approach" when considering the purse.
