Tiger Woods' opening round of the US Open went from bad to worse at Shinnecock Hills on Thursday.

After making a mess of the opening hole with a triple-bogey seven, firing an expletive in the process, the 14-time major champion took four putts from 35 feet at the 13th en route to a double-bogey six...

Woods appeared to have arrested the slide of his nightmare start with a birdie at the fifth, but despite pars to the 10th, Woods bogeyed the 11th and then strung together consecutive double-bogeys at 13 and 14 to fall to 8-over par and all-but eliminate his hopes of contending for a 15th major as early as Thursday.
