Bubba Watson has officially announced he will play a Volvik golf ball in 2017, as we reported last month, switching from the Titleist Pro V1x.

Despite rumours suggesting the two-time Masters champion would play a pink or green ball, it has been confirmed the 38-year-old will use the White Color S4, or “Blue Pearl”, which has tinges of blue in the dimples.

Watson will also wear the logo on his sleeve at this week’s Tournament of Champions in Hawaii.

“You know where I got the idea (to play a Volvik)?” said Watson. “Watching the (World) Long Drive on television.”

Watson is one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, averaging 310.6 yards off the tee last season.

Volvik balls, manufactured in Korea, are also played by Craig Stadler on the PGA Tour of Champions and Tim Petrovic on the PGA Tour, and enjoy a strong following on the LPGA Tour.

Volvik says S4 has superior distance, thanks to a dual power core with Bismuth metal, control, feel and durability.

It has a urethane cover, and a solid inner core for low spin rates with driver and high spin with short irons.
