Golf fans stunned after learning incredible Adam Scott update at BMW PGA

Former Masters champion Adam Scott has made a huge equipment switch at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth this week.

Adam Scott has taken the golf world by surprise after replacing his long-time broom handle putter with a standard-length putter at this week's BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in England.

Scott is now using a regular-sized heel-shafted OZ.1 LAB putter, which we recently tested on GolfMagic.

The move has come as a huge surprise to ardent golf fans given Scott has wielded a broom putter for a decade

The 2013 Masters champion was seen using his new regular-sized putter - with a claw grip - during his Wednesday Pro-Am.

Scott was joined by comedian Michael McIntyre on the West Course.

The OZ.1 from LAB, which Scott helped to design, was voted one of the best zero torque putters of the season by our equipment team.

In short, a zero torque putter uses a unique combination of weighting and balance to eliminate twisting in order to promote a squarer face throughout the entire stroke.

This theoretically means the golfer has more accuracy, more consistency, less pushes and pulls from short range, and more holed putts.

Scott's putter is said to be set at 35 inches with a matte black Mitsubishi Diamana composite shaft with triple sightlines.

Should the flatstick indeed go into Scott's bag for the first round of the BMW PGA on Thursday, it would mark the first time he has used a standard-sized putter since 2015.

The key differentiator of the LAB Golf OZ.1 is the bevy of weights that sit on the bottom of the club head, which are there to optimise CG and provide complete balance throughout the stroke.

Despite the solid half-moon milled body that surrounds it, the OZ is also the first L.A.B. model to use an insert rather than a simple milled face, softening the feel somewhat and providing a more cushioned sensation behind the ball.

Scott will very much be hoping the move to a conventional-length putter will end a torrid time for him on the greens.

The Australian ranks a lowly 111th in strokes-gained putting (-0.100) on the PGA Tour this season.

Scott has also this week reverted back to using Titleist irons having recently been testing Callaway blades.

The 45-year-old is winless on the PGA Tour since the Genesis Invitational in February 2020.

He's also not won a DP World Tour event since his home Australian PGA Championship in December 2019.

Scott is a 14-time winner on the PGA Tour.

He also has 11 European Tour titles to his name.
