Wilson gets serious about its irons with three new forged Staff Models for 2026

Plenty of familiar superlatives have been thrown around to describe Wilson's output in recent years.

Underrated and under-appreciated are two of the chief among them, with the brand routinely cranking out outstanding tour level equipment that, despite costing hundreds of dollars less than the major OEMs and getting nods from the likes of Padraig Harrington, tends to get lost amidst the noise of launch season.

Whether this will ever change or not isn't really up for Wilson themselves to determine, however their latest release is perhaps their most serious statement of intent yet in bringing their premium offering up to the level of the big five.

Joining Cobra in expanding their tour-level iron line-up for this year, Wilson have introduced two new Staff model irons to give better players a range of truly premium iron options that look as good as they feel – all without the exorbitant price tag.

Wilson's Staff Model Blade and CB irons are already highly regarded clubs and have been for a long time, having flown under the radar while offering a pure and true forged iron option for players lacking a Titleist or Mizuno-level budget.

Both have received updates for 2026, and are joined by a new hollow-body model called the Staff Model XB, designed with a thicker topline and a larger profile to provide something more akin to a players' distance option (Wilson calls it 'Players Performance') for players who want that premium look and feel with added forgiveness.

“Wilson has a long history of great performing irons, and we've taken part of that heritage and combined it with modern craftsmanship to produce what I believe to be the best iron family the brand has ever produced,” said Ben Hanser, CAD Engineer at Wilson Golf.

“Adding a Players Performance iron in the XB to the Staff Model family allows more people to fit into the range. When you sit the irons side-by-side, you’ll notice the consistent design across all models, whilst each model has individual nuances to differentiate between each iron,” he added.

All three irons are forged from 8620 stainless steel (the same steel PING uses in its Blueprint irons), however the Staff Model XB is where most of Wilson's new tech resides. It uses an internal urethane insert to dampen vibrations and provide a pure sensation both on centre strikes and less optimal shots.

Engineered rib supports, a parabolic mass pad, and cleverly-hidden tungsten weights also add MOI and speed across the face, however having hit all three at their initial launch, what's striking is just how clean and slim Wilson have managed to make the XB while amping up its forgiveness level.

The Staff Model Blade is the most precise Wilson blade yet, reshaped for 2026 and given a cleaner, purer look with subtly angled ridges, less offset and a shorter blade length.

The CB once again sits in the middle, adding a little extra forgiveness with a refined look that sits closer visually to the other two staff models and allows a cleaner visual progression across the three (Wilson, like other brands, are active in encouraging players to build combo sets to suit their needs). Both the Blade and CB have had their mass redistributed somewhat for optimal ball-striking.

All three new Wilson Staff model irons will store shelves in early February, priced at £1169 for a 4-PW set).
