A golf pro shop worker in the United States has revealed his club is currently thriving despite the coronavirus outbreak by claiming local golfers are flocking to the course since they cannot stand it anymore at home!

News broke yesterday that nearly HALF of all European golf courses have temporary closed - equating to more than 4,000 courses.

Only the story is very different in the United States, particularly at Neshanic Valley Golf Course in New Jersey - according to a report in the New York Post.

New rules have been set at just about every golf course still open around the world to combat the spread of COVID-19 such as leaving the flagstick in and removing bunker rakes.

Many golfers are also being told not to shake hands with playing partners, or even fist-bump, and they are also being encouraged to book tee times prior to arriving at the course so they don't have to enter the pro shop.

These new rules and directives are certainly not being lost on golfers at Neshanic Valley Golf Course.

"I have a full tee sheet for tomorrow," said pro shop worker Tom.

"People are going stir-crazy. They're coming here because they can't take it at home anymore!"

Golf is still being encouraged in the United Kingdom, too.

UK chief scientific adviser Sir Patrick Vallance has told the public they can still continue to play golf during the coronavirus outbreak but only if they "keep a distance."

He added: "We’re not asking everyone to be completely isolated. The specific advice is to avoid close contact."
