Intelligentgolf sees 570% increase in golf bookings
Golfers eating up the tee times following the sport's return during the coronavirus lockdown...
Intelligentgolf, a leading software provider for golf clubs that manages their tee time bookings, has revealed a year-on-year increase of 570% in bookings on May 12 following the announcement that golf courses could reopen following the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.
This gigantic rise in bookings on the site was in comparison with the same day the previous year. Traffic to the intelligentgolf website also saw a year-on-year increase of 1700% on May 12 compared to that of the previous year.
"Ever since the government's decision to allow golf courses to reopen in England on May 12, there has been great excitement in the community," said Jamie Abbott, managing director of intelligentgolf.
"Immediately after the announcement, there was a huge rush as golfers around the country went online to book their tee times.
"We are really pleased to see so many players getting out there and supporting their local golf clubs."

Currently golfers are allowed to play in two-balls with a person in their household or outside of their household, while three-balls and fourballs are permitted if everyone is from the same household.
Golfers must adhere to correct social distancing guidelines of being at least two metres apart at all times.
Flagsticks must not be touched and must remain in the cup at all times, while bunker rakes have been removed from traps - two areas of the game that have helped to speed up pace of play - something 69% of GolfMagic readers admitted to being "great" during lockdown golf.
Golf courses are now reopen in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland, and some courses in Scotland will get to reopen from this Friday but with the rest of the country following suit next month.
