Tom Lewis earns PGA Tour card for the first time in his career

Tom Lewis missed the first two events in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals but made the trip to Indiana for the final event, where PGA Tour cards were up for grabs for the top 25 players who hadn't already confirmed their place on the PGA Tour next season.

Lewis shot a final round of 65, giving the Englishman a five-shot victory over Argentina's Fabian Gomez. A T11 finish at The Open earlier this year gave Lewis the equivalent finish of 196th in the FedEx Cup standings. Players that finished between 126th and 200th were able to participate in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals.

"I'm chuffed," Lewis said. "A win is a win. Hopefully, I can go on and create more opportunities for myself on the European Tour and out here now."

Lewis played some phenomenal golf on both Saturday and Sunday, shooting back-to-back 66s and giving him a two-shot lead going into the final round.

The 28 year old saved a par with a six-foot putt at the first and two holes later at the third he sunk a lengthy birdie putt. Lewis made another birdie at the fifth, but the gained shot was quickly lost with a bogey at the next. Lewis came agonisingly close to an eagle on the eighth, but it marked the start of a birdie train where Lewis would go on to make three birdies in a row.

A run of pars was ended when Lewis was able to two-putt for birdie on the par-five 15th and Lewis started to run away with it when he made two more birdies over his next two holes, finishing his round with an easy tap in for par on the 18th.

Lewis ended a run of pars with a two-putt birdie at the par-five 15th and extended his lead with birdies over his next two holes, before completing his victory with a tap-in par at the last.

The win for Lewis saw him finish second in the Finals 25 standings and he also climbed the world rankings into No. 63.
