Callaway Golf is introducing a new set of irons to add to its ever-changing range of clubs.

The Hawk Eye VFT Tungsten Injected Titanium clubs – a bit of a mouthful when you are enquiring about them at your local retailer or pro shop – claim to deliver ‘remarkable forgiveness and stability to golfers of all skill levels.’

"They mark a significant advance in iron design," says Richard Helmstetter, head of Callaway’s research and development. "Variable Face Thickness (VFT) allows us to reduce the amount of mass in the clubface, freeing weight that can be positioned elsewhere in the clubhead for extra forgiveness and solid feel, even on off-centre shots.

"And our Tungsten Weight Matrix is an effective way to position weight low and deep in the clubhead to give golfers a better chance of hitting straighter shots and getting the ball airborne easily, even on mishits or out of the rough or sand."

Callaway Golf has also designed its own graphite shafts for the clubs available in regular, firm and strong flexes – lightest in the long irons, heavier through the wedges.

They claim it allows golfers to generate more clubhead speed in the long irons and better feel and control in the short irons and wedges. Steel shafts are also available.

Hawk Eye VFT TIT irons are now available at selected golf retailers around the world in 1-iron through 9-iron plus pitching, approach, sand and lob wedges. A set of nine irons with graphite shafts carries a suggested retail price of £1,349 (graphite shafts) and £1,099 (steel).
