Nike's 400cc driver here at last

Nike Golf
says its 400cc Forged driver is now available in Europe in addition to the 275cc and 350cc models the company announced in January and which made their debut at The Open Championship, Muirfield.

Tom Stites, chief designer, had been working on the 400cc driver for months before settling on the final design last November, developing ‘a larger hitting area on the face, wider sweet-spot and more forgiveness on off-centre hits.’

"This is a terrific golf club, especially for committed golfers with higher handicaps," says Nike’s Mike Kelly. "Our first goal was to make a driver that the best golfers in the world could play. We've done that, evidenced by the fact that Tiger Woods, David Duval and others on our PGA and European Tour staff have put our driver in their bags.

"But we also knew, from research and from the feedback we received that there would be a great deal of interest in a product with a larger clubface. We feel that our 400cc driver will be incredibly forgiving and helpful to golfers of all skill levels."

Nike says the 400cc version shares the same design, material and benefits as its smaller siblings, with the three-piece head incluing a face-forged of Beta Titanium.
