Surprise, surprise...Ireland win again

Ireland claims Four Nations Challenge

Team Ireland capped off a tremendous season for its nation by winning the Four Nations Golf Challenge at The Oxfordshire Hotel & Golf Resort, following in the footsteps of major champions Rory McIlroy and Darren Clarke, as well as Alfred Dunhill Links champion Michael Hoey.

The Irish team claimed a narrow playoff victory over Scotland in the UK semi-final, before sealing the deal with a 4-2 victory over Wales.

“We all felt like Ryder Cup players,” said victorious Irish captain Ian Dallas. “As club golfers, we have all received an International Cap. And to have captained my nation to victory will be a memory forever.”

Team Ireland comprised of Brian McClements & William McClements (Bright Castle and Spa Golf Club), Robert Aiken (Royal Portrush), Jonathan Doherty (Portstewart), Baden Maher & Michael Maher (Killarney Golf Club), Paul S. Byrne & Paul Byrne (Skerries G.C), Jeremy Cleary & Sarah Cleary (Woodbrook), Fraser Thomson (Huddersfield) and Ian Dallas (Collingtree Park).

Highlights of the event will be aired on Sky Sports on October 18 and 19.
