Meet the girls behind Go Golf Holidays
Golfmagic chats to the travel industry
Say hello to Taylor-Marie Edkins and Hannah Moul – the travel experts behind Go Golf Holidays, a venture launched in January specialising in golf breaks all around the world.
Offering a selection of the finest resorts, courses and hotels worldwide, Taylor and Hannah say they will provide golfers with the very best service, price and expert advice, along with a personal and friendly approach.
And as we’re always pleased at Golfmagic to see new businesses being created for the good of the game, we went to meet these two bright new stars of the golf’s booming travel industry to learn a little more about them.
“We both grew up in Essex,” begins Taylor, “and met at Chelmsford Golf Club, where my mum managed the cadet section, when I was 11 and Hannah 15.
“I looked up to Hannah like a big sister. She was an excellent golfer so I followed her around the golf club to all of the golfing events and was always practising with her, I never left her side.
“Over the years we became very close and, although I stopped playing golf as much as Hannah, we always kept in contact.”
“Both of our families are very much involved in the game,” says Hannah, who is currently dating European Tour player Matthew Southgate. “Taylor’s parents have always supported and caddied for Lloyd Kennedy, while my brother is Jamie Moul, who was the amateur World No.1 in 2007. Both play on the European Tour with Matt.”
How about their own games?
“Hannah was Essex Girls’ captain, Essex Girls’ champion and at 15 the youngest ever Ladies’ Champion of Essex,” Taylor tells me, struggling to hide the pride she has for her friend. “At her best she played off a handicap of 1.
“My lowest handicap was 16. I did represent Essex a few times but never anything serious – I’ve always played golf socially and I enjoyed the game and going to watch and support Hannah and the boys when they were playing in events.”
So how did Go Golf Holidays come about?
“After leaving my previous job in the City, Hannah offered me a job at her company selling golf holidays. We worked together for a couple of years and felt there were areas we could improve and develop, so it seemed a natural step to put our ideas to the test.
“We discussed those ideas with the right people who then provided the financial backing to get Go Golf Holidays off the ground.
And what can you expect if booking a golf break through Go Golf Holidays?
“While we are both keen golfers and experienced in sales,” explains Taylor, “Hannah’s strength is in the knowledge and understanding when it comes to courses and equipment, so she can deal with technical golf enquiries, matching golf courses to golfers.
“We’re both from families who have always taken golf holidays and we also have relatives and friends who play on the Challenge and European Tours – so we know how important the logistics of your golf holidays are, right down to the smallest details. We pride ourselves on knowing the specifics and we want our customers to be confident their holiday is in very safe hands.”
Adds Hannah: “Taylor has a flair for promotion, presentation and customer service; she is a confident speaker and likes to be forthcoming and be out there promoting the business and meeting new people.
“We have been lucky enough to travel and play a lot of golf courses around the world. Our extensive knowledge of each individual resort and the game itself matters.
“We want to emphasise trust – the idea that each and every client knows exactly who they are booking with is important to us.”
Finally, where would they recommend to go?
“I love the Lisbon coast,” says Hannah. “It is relatively unknown in the golfing world and some of the courses, such as Penha Longa and Oitavos Dunes, are just unbelievable.”
“My parents live over in Marbella,” adds Taylor, “so I travel over there a lot to visit and play as they are members at Real Club de Golf Guadalmina.
“I love this course and Spain as a golf holiday destination, it is a quick flight and you can get very cheap flights out there nowadays. And, of course, it has great weather year round and a good night life.”
