Cameron Young didn't appear too pleased with this question from a reporter after another near miss at the WGC Match Play.

Cameron Young will have to wait for his maiden PGA Tour victory after he was thrashed by Sam Burns in the final of the WGC Match Play.

Young, 25, was in supreme form all week at Austin Country Club.

So much so, he even surprised himself. "I was a million under for the week," he said after losing to Burns.

In the group stages, Young was drawn against Sepp Straka, Corey Conners and Davis Thompson.

He beat Thompson 3&2, Conners 1UP and Straka 5&3.

In the Round of 16, he saw off Billy Horschel 5&4. It was during that match Horschel demonstrated his new party trick

Young then beat recent Arnold Palmer Invitational champion Kurt Kitayama in a tense quarterfinal before stunning Rory McIlroy in a sudden-death extra hole.

Unfortunately for Young he couldn't quite match Burns

He said:

"I don't think I actually really played poorly. I just didn't get a ton out of it. I missed a bunch of putts that I hit where I meant to, just struggled reading 'em a little bit. So, yeah, that's it."

Still, Young will have to chalk this one up with another close call.

Last season he had four runner-up finishes. One of those came at the 150th Open Championship. He also finished third at the PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

One reporter asked him: "Of your close calls, is this the least disappointing just because of the nature and the way you played all week?"

He replied:

"That's not the best question. I mean, they're all disappointing. I don't know. I finished second again. It's a little frustrating. But I beat some really good players this week and I played some good golf, so I can't complain."

"He's definitely a talker"

Cameron Young to reporter after latest near miss:

Young has now hired Paul Tesori as his looper. Tesori spent 12 years carrying the bag for Webb Simpson

Simpson explained why they split before the WGC Match Play.

How did their first week together go? Young said:

"I think it was really easy just because I've played so much with Webb with him on the bag.
"He is definitely a talker, but I think we have more in common, I think, than it might look on the surface, just the way we think, kind of what we're interested in.
"Just talking about it out there, I feel like it's really easy to talk to him. We have good conversation.
"And it was just easy personally between the two of us. I think the time that we spent beforehand playing practice rounds just made the transition very simple and it really couldn't have gone much better."
