Webb Simpson has confirmed he has split with long-time caddie Paul Tesori, who will now join forces with last season's PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Cameron Young.

Tesori was on the bag for all of Simpson's seven PGA Tour victories, highlighted by the 2012 US Open and 2018 Players Championship.

Simpson, 37, confirmed the news that his good friend Tesori will now be working for fellow Wake Forest product Young, 25, who despite finishing second at The Open and third at the US PGA is still searching for his maiden PGA Tour title.

Here's Simpson's statement in full:

"After over twelve years of working together, Paul Tesori and I have made the hard decision to change directions.
"This was an incredibly difficult decision for both of us, but one that we have thoroughly considered after spending many hours in prayer, seeking counsel from mentors, and having countless conversations together.
"Our time together has been truly unforgettable - Ryder Cups, Presidents Cups, a major championship, a TPC win and a career high of 4th in the OWGR.
"I could never have done this without Paul by my side. Not only has he been my caddie and swing coach, but one of my best friends in the world.
"I am happy for the great opportunity Paul has in going to work with my fellow WF Demon Deacon and friend, Cameron Young.
"Pauly, Michelle, Alexis, Isaiah and their family will always be a part of Team Simpson. Their family has become our family and our family has become theirs."

Despite reaching a career-high of fourth in the OWGR as Simpson mentions in his statement, he has slipped all the way down to a current 133rd.

He did, however, pick up his best finish of the season so far with a tie for seventh at the Valspar Championship last weekend.

Young, on the other hand, is ranked 17th and in the field at this week's WGC Match Play.
