Former PGA Tour pro Bio Kim has been suspended from the Korean Tour for THREE YEARS after putting his middle finger up at the crowd before thumping his driver into the turf during the final round of Sunday's DGB Financial Group Volvik Daegu Gyeongbuk Open.

Kim, 29, reached boiling point after a fan's mobile phone went off during his backswing on the 16th hole.

He held a one-stroke lead at the time, and still went on to win the tournament for his second Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) title of the season.

On Tuesday, Kim knelt in front of Korean media and television crew and apologised for his actions as he fought back the tears.

But according to an AFP report, the KPGA reached an agreement that despite listening to Kim's apology that he would be suspended from the circuit for three years and fined 10 million won ($8,350).

The South Korean currently leads the money and player of the year points race, but now that he has been suspended he will not be allowed to finish the remainder of the season.

"Kim Bio damaged the dignity of a golfer with etiquette violation and inappropriate behavior," the KPGA said in a statement.

The six-time professional winner played on the PGA Tour in 2011 after earning his place via Q-School.

He also had two full seasons on the second-tier Web.com Tour, which is now the Korn Ferry Tour.
